Periodontal health is complex. A dental examination can reveal important clinical findings, but microbial information can provide another layer of insight, helping identify and quantify specific periodontal-associated bacteria that cannot be assessed through a visual examination alone.
This is where Unique Biosciences™ was established.
Our goal was never simply to become another company offering a laboratory test. We wanted to build something unique, complete, scientifically grounded, and accessible, connecting sample collection, molecular testing, reporting, clinical support, and wellness solutions into one integrated platform.
From a Simple Saliva Sample to Meaningful Information
At the center of our platform is the UniquePerioSignature™ Panel, a saliva-based molecular test that uses multiplex qPCR to detect and quantify five targeted periodontal pathogens:
- Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans (Aa)
- Porphyromonas gingivalis (Pg)
- Tannerella forsythia (Tf)
- Treponema denticola (Td)
- Prevotella intermedia (Pi)
The purpose is not to measure every organism in the oral microbiome. Instead, our approach focuses on selected periodontal-associated bacterial targets and provides quantitative information that can be considered alongside clinical findings.
